It was friends reunited down in Urmston as the Phoenix girls played their mates from Meadowside in a friendly.
The match ended up a nine-aside affair on a bigger pitch than either side was used to, so the focus was on match fitness and prep for the coming league season.
- Orlaith scored Phoenix's goal and was unlucky not to get more as she toiled away up front against three defenders.
- Lois was everywhere in midfield, driving the side on and came close with a speculative effort from distance.
- April, in only her second ever game, was relentless and played well beyond her years, getting into the box regularly.
- Anabell grew into the game and played some good passes out wide.
- Grace made her usual solid challenges and has started to look up and play passes from the back, which was great to see.
- Mia and Aoife grafted chasing loose balls and making timely clearances.
- Isabella was faultless in goal, commanding her area and claiming balls. She was left with little chance when Urmston players went through one on one.
Thanks to Urmston coaches Dave, Scott, Brian and others for organising and their great friendship as ever.
The Phoenix coaches have a bit of work to do at training as the season nears its start, but it was a good run out for our little stars.
