Our teams brought home some Christmas cups to put under the Marauders’ tree.

Our under-sevens boys Sharks won the MYSL Christmas Cup at the Etihad Campus, with victory over Swinton Titans.

Goals were scored by Sam (2), Cyrus, Thomas and Luke.

Coach Dan said: “It began as a real end-to-end game and we took the lead against the run of play after a shaky start. But then we settled down and our quality showed through.

“We had some really impressive patterns of play and scored some very good goals. Well done to Sam, Cyrus, Thomas and Luke for some quality finishing.

“Freddie caused the opposition all kinds of problems, Vinny was excellent in and out of goal and Joey battled hard on the left, almost scoring himself.

“It has been a really positive start for the Sharks as a team and we are now moving up from division five to three, so that will be a great challenge for the lads.

“Thanks to MYSL, Man City and all the parents for making it a great day to remember for all involved.”

Dragons under-11s boys won their Christmas cup with a penalties victory over Diggle Milan.

Coach Hilary said: “The match was played in gusty winds and was end-to-end stuff, with Dragons taking a 2-0 lead with two great goals from Frankie.

“Diggle pulled one back before Owen scored a third. Diggle were a fast and skilled team and got the score back to 3-3. So penalties it was.

“It was best of three, and goalie Jack absolutely bossed it with the Dragons coming out winners. Captain for the day Patrick lifted the trophy and all the lads went home happy. Despite the difficulties in the last few months they showed great team spirit and determination and we are looking forward to the new year.”

Dragons with their trophy

Meanwhile, Phantoms under-15s boys finished the year on a high with an 8-2 win against Littleborough.

Coach Marc said: “Phantoms were brilliant in the first half playing some great attacking football considering we had sick and injured players and no subs for the first 40 mins. Isaac, Reece, Riley and Lucas all hit the back of the net with some great goals.

“The second half started off comfortably getting goals through Isaac and Lucas and we slowed the game down after that. Littleborough managed to pull two back, but it didn’t really make a difference as the boys had done the job in the first half.

“They all put the effort in and it must have been hard for them in the circumstances. It was good to see Isaac getting back to scoring ways again and being rewarded with the player of the match award.”

Our Vikings under-11s boys ended the year on top form in their game against Fothergill and Whittles.

Coach Tom said: "We didn't start well, couldn't string passes together, and didn't create many chances in the first half.

"During the break we asked the boys to play short one and two touch football instead of playing as individuals, like we did in the first half, and boy did they turn it on.

"The second half saw some exceptional football being played, and the opposition couldn't get out of their half.

"Aidan was having yet another great game and scored. Then there were two quickfire goals from Eoin.

"Their goalkeeper kept it interesting with some genuinely world class saves."

Well done to all our teams for another successful year for the club. We hope everyone has a great Christmas and we look forward to getting back onto the pitches in the New Year. Forza PMFC.
