Our young players had a great day as they watched our partner club Prestwich Heys all but confirm their survival in the North West Counties premier division.

As guests of Heys, Marauders players, coaches and parents from teams across the club took to the pitch and were introduced to the crowd by way of publicly announcing the link between the two organisations.

Buoyed by the great reception from the Heys faithful, our members witnessed an exciting game as Heys scored late on to beat Irlam. Read the match report.

Marauders chairman Chris said: "It was a memorable day for both clubs. We thank Heys for welcoming us and it was a nice way to publicly show the link between the two clubs.

"Our players, coaches and parents represented Marauders with pride and were a credit. The day was topped off with a great result for Heys that was enjoyed by all of our members, many of whom stayed long after the final whistle to celebrate with players and staff."

Heys secretary Stephen Howard said: "It was an incredible day. I don’t think I have ever witnessed an atmosphere like Saturday in all my years at Heys, even when we have won something."

Several Marauders coaches reported back...

Lee from Wolves (who's players are pictured above) said: "Heys players were great with the kids. They gave them all high fives when leaving the pitch and enjoyed good banter in the clubhouse. It was a really good day."

Tom from Vikings said: "It was a brilliant afternoon. It was a great game of football, in a great atmosphere. Seeing all those Marauders shirts on the pitch at half-time was class. The parents and kids who came with us said they will definitely make it a regular thing."

Mark from Diamonds said: "The kids all had a great day. I was talking to someone from Heys in the clubhouse and they were saying how great it was to see all the Marauders girls and boys there."

Martin from girls development and Cheetahs said: "We really enjoyed it and were so pleased Heys got that late win, as they deserved it."
