We are delighted to announce the club is one of the options to vote for as part of Tesco's 'Stronger Starts' blue token scheme, which sees shoppers 'rewarded' with round discs to place in one of three slots held by local non-profit organisations.
The organisation with the most tokens gets £1,500, second most gets £1,000 and third is guaranteed £500, which in Marauders' case will go towards supporting the growth of girls' football for local kids aged six to 16.
We aim to use the money to purchase equipment and enhance facilities for our girls' football provisions.
The store hosting the vote is in Ramsbottom - full address is Tesco, King Street, Ramsbottom, Bury, BL0 9AS. For those wondering - this was the closest store available to Prestwich and Whitefield and we are all categorised as 'Bury'.
So, when doing your Friday big shop (or whenever you do it), or maybe just passing through Rammy, make sure to get some tokens at the tills and vote for your football club as we seek to widen our football community benefit offer.
As a community, non-profit football club we rely on membership fees and donations to operate and provide activities for the young people of our area.
Membership fees cover a lot of the day-to-day things the club has to pay for, but we also need donations and fundraisers for extras like equipment and our hopes of being able to develop our own facilities - be that places to store our gear or eventually somewhere to call a proper home.
Therefore any amounts, big or small, that people can donate through fundraising, sponsorship or simply paying in when they get chance, can make a big difference to young people’s lives and improve the offer we are able to provide of football for all.
If you have any fundraising ideas, please let us know by email.
If you wish to donate cash of any amount, you can do so via our fundraising page.
What we need to fundraise for
The St Mary’s Park container is most in need of attention and can only be replaced with a permanent brick structure, in agreement with the council. Estimates for that range from £10,000 to £20,000. If you can help with this in anyway, please email us or contact a committee member.
Extra pitch maintenance
We are working with our partners Prestwich Heys AFC on this, but will need funds to make the work happen. All teams use our grass pitches at some point in their lives and all use them from April onwards for training. So this is a club-wide appeal.
