Diamonds under-12s girls put in a top ten display to pop Cherrybrook's hopes in the BBDFL higher ability cup semi-final.

Five-star Erin was scoring for fun, with imperious strike partner Maria grabbing a brace, and captain Violette also helped herself to a double, including arguably the pick of the goals - a wonderful curler into the top corner.

Meanwhile, Mia's goal was the least she deserved for her hard work up and down the right wing and it put the Cherry on the cake of the 10-1 win.

The girls were so impressive, coach Mark gave them a collective 'players of the game' award.

Erin, with her five-goal haul, was the parents' player of the game and coach Kris gave his award to Eva, who was a colossus in midfield, often breaking through multiple opponents' challenges simultaneously.

Elsa was commanding at the back, winning battles in a very physical encounter and defensive partner Frankie claimed countless high balls, but also displayed nuance when the occasion allowed.

Maria was a constant menace. Storming through the defence regularly, and on another day she could have had six.

Leyla put in a shift on the left, cutting out counters and feeding the forwards, while Lexi was determined in every tackle, and played some good balls down the line.

Essie took the ball out of the sky as if she owned it. She made the game look wonderfully simple and kept Marauders ticking.

Keeper Darci didn't have a great deal to do, but her handling and distribution were spot on as she kept her concentration.

On this form Diamonds will be difficult to stop, but as coach Mark keeps telling them 'every game is a cup final' and next month they will now have a literal one to enjoy as they look to complete an historic double.
