Panthers under-10s boys won their MYSL cup final in dramatic fashion against Mountfield Rovers.

Coach Ste said: "Straight away we knew we would have a game on our hands. Rovers were pressing high and had some very good attackers.

"Panthers were winning in defence but unable to get through a solid Rovers midfield which created a bit of a stalemate in the middle of the pitch.

"Half way through the first half Rovers were forced to shoot from the edge of the box, and even though not the best strike somehow found its way into the back of the net.

"Panthers stepped it up, but only managed to break through their defence on one occasion, which was met with a great save leaving the lads one down at half-time.

"An honest team talk with the lads at the interval let them know if we wanted to win, we needed more energy and a higher press.

"The boys responded and came out faster than England last week, forcing their keeper into multiple saves and the whole game was being played in the opponent's half.

"Every single Panther had stepped it up and a goal seemed looming as we pressed with attack after attack. As we rotated our players it felt like the equaliser was getting closes, however Rovers stood strong celebrating every defensive block.

"With 10 minutes to go it was all out attack, risking it with just Rocco at the back and throwing David high up putting Enzo in goal. Rovers did get one counter attack, however Enzo was there with a great save and then the ball went straight back up to the strikers for another attack.

"With two minutes to go, all of the effort paid off when a goal-mouth scramble fell to Jay on the edge of the box who struck the ball into the bottom corner. The boys went wild. There was hardly time left and the ref blew for full time and dreaded penalties...

"David, Enzo, William, James, Ethan and Freddie all scored, with David also making a fine save.

"Sadly for Rovers they missed at 6-6 and it fell to Rocco to calmly slot his kick home to send the Panthers wild with elation.

"The lads were respectful in consoling their opponents who had also give it everything. It was a hard fought game, however the Panthers definitely deserved this one and it is a celebration of all of their success across the whole season. A massive congratulations to all the lads."
