Panthers under-nines boys took a giant leap forward in their game against Uppermill.

The lads enjoyed a thrilling encounter with a hat-trick for James and goals from Ari, Ethan and Oliver. Coach Ste said: "We were the better team for much of the game, with the boys never giving up, which made it all the more enjoyable."

Fellow under-nines boys Jaguars also put on a positive display in their game against Shawside. Coach Tim said: "The lads seem to be adapting to the bigger pitches and played some great passing football, with top performances throughout the team."

Phantoms under-15s boys went down bravely in a 3-2 reverse against Junior Hoops. Despite playing with 10 men for 70 minutes, the lads came back from two down and fought hard throughout. It looked like they had claimed a draw at 2-2, only for a late goal to break Marauders hearts. The coaches were proud of their team's battling performance.

Devils under-11s boys enjoyed their fixture with Manchester Enlightened, as coach Andy said: "It was a very heated game in a good way, with tough tackles and physicality - it had a real vibe of a 1990s Manchester United versus Arsenal game. There was some lovely interplay and fantastic finishing. I couldn’t have been more proud."

As for our girls teams, Cheetahs under-12s returned to winning ways against Radcliffe JFC Foundation. The game finished 4-0 to Marauders, but there were at least six more shots that could have gone in but for the bar, post and some excellent saves by the opposition keeper. Coach Alex said: "There was some excellent team work and passing throughout and the girls really enjoyed themselves, with smiles all round."

St Mary's Park in great nick on Sunday morning. Thanks to Mark Jones, Dan James and others for their hard graft on the pitches

Phoenix under-10s showed their sporting nature by lending an ailing Westbury Flames a couple of players to ensure a game took place on the pristine St Mary's Park sevens pitch. The girls played some lovely football, including an end to end move involving keeper Isabella, Anabell, Noe, Summer and a finish by Lois..

Player of the game Summer capped her hard-working performance with a clinical strike and the cherry on the cake came when Non-Stop Noe flicked in a Summer corner after the team had spent the warm up practicing such a set piece.

Plaudits to Anabell, Mia, Isabella and Orlaith for playing for both teams in the true spirit of grass roots football. Coach Rob said: "We could and should have scored a lot more, but there was some great passing from the girls and nice to see their sporting behaviour as always. They make us very proud."

Hurricanes under-eights enjoyed a well contested game against Radcliffe and it could have gone either way.

Coach Justin said: "We’re getting better with every game, and the improvement and commitment from the whole team was great to see.

"Siana the Cat continues to dazzle with a brilliant series of one on one saves, and also is making huge strides in her distribution and command of the area. Betsy was an absolute rock at the back again, stopping the opposition attacks at every opportunity and helping start our attacks."

"Marnie scored again to continue her hot streak, and was her usual driving force from midfield throughout the game. Violet scored twice including a well taken finish for her second and was a constant danger to the opposition – she needs to work on her celebrations though...

"Lyla was combative and competitive in midfield, ran at the opposition all game and was unlucky not to score. Matilda lead the line well in attack and harassed the opposition at every opportunity, and also showed some good passing.

"It was Alma’s best game yet for us as she defended ferociously and showed some excellent distribution from the back. Rene’s improvements continued as she was a tigerish presence in midfield, making some key interceptions and good passes. Olivia was terrific in midfield, winning back possession on several occasions and was unlucky not to score herself."
