Wolves boys under-10s (pictured) brought the heat in a baptism of fire for St John's in their MYSL encounter.
Goals were scored by Teddy (5), Harry (3) and Max (2), with player of the game Mack making plenty of assists to help the team.
Coach Paul said: "There were strong performances from all the boys this week. There was lots of crisp passing and moving and we were always hungry to win the ball back."
Cheetahs girls under-12s enjoyed a 4-0 win over Radcliffe Town, to continue their 100% start to the league season, despite being light on players.
Coach Alex said: "The girls took 10-15 minutes to warm into the game and two fabulous goals helped them settle into a comfortable style. Passing and movement were excellent and we were unlucky not to be more up at half time.
"Second half, due to illness, we were down to eight players but you’d hardly have noticed the way they were playing. Another two goals saw out the match with a 4-0 victory and nine points from nine.
"We showed grit, skills, determination and commitment, but overall just a fantastic attitude from the whole team individually and together. Sylvie and Flora with two goals each (and assisting each other alongside Summer and Orlaith).
"Players of the game were Orlaith and Charlotte for their overall performance, covering a lot of ground and never giving up."
Diamonds girls under-11s battled to the end against AFC Bolton, despite being sub-less with only nine players against last season's top side.
Goals were scored by Erin, who beat a couple of players before slotting home from the narrowest of angles, and Eva, who cut in from the left and lifted the ball over the onrushing keeper.
Three own goals from Diamonds made the unlucky difference, but coach Mark was full of praise for his team.
He said: "Missing players to the point we had to draft in our mate Lois from the Phoenix just to make a bare nine, the girls ran themselves into the ground for us and never gave up despite Lady Luck not only deserting us but two footing us before she went.
"We dominated the opposition from the first whistle and were good value for our lead but then we unluckily scored three own goals from corners which the magnificent Darci in our net had no chance with.
"AFC grew into the game and made life a lot harder in the second half - they scored an absolute worldy and us having no subs showed. A couple of times the tenacious Frankie had to come off for treatment for a back injury leaving us with only eight, but she bravely battled on alongside the imperious Essie, who is excelling in her first season as a Diamond.
"Parents' girl of the game was new keeper Darci, who had an exceptional performance and really cemented her place as the Diamonds new number one.
"My girl of the game was Lois making her Diamonds and nine-aside debut, playing a year up against a high ability team - she was not fazed in the slightest and put in a real shift on the right.
"Craig's girls of the game were Mia and Elsa. Two absolute warriors at the back who deserved to share the award and looked like Rio [Ferdinand] and Vida [Nemanja Vidic] out there."

Titans under-15s boys won away 9-5 at Seedfield.
Coach Nathan said: "It was a very entertaining game with goals galore. We took some great positives, but we also know we need to defend better. It was a great game to watch with some amazing goals.
"A big shoutout to Huey with a great save from a penalty and Max who continued his goal scoring form with a hattrick. Olly had a stellar performance from right back with two goals, Jack returned from holiday with a goal and Leighton put in a class player of the match performance, bossing the game and coming up with three goals of his own."

Raptors under-12s boys got a bit closer to an elusive win, pushing Stalybridge Celtic all the way, before being edged out 3-4.
Coach Paul said: "We switched off for 10 minutes of the second half which saw us concede two sloppy goals, before pulling two back in the final 10 minutes. If there had been another five minutes, it could have swung our way. It was another promising team performance overall."
