Jaguars under-nines boys were the cat's whiskers during a "great performance" against Rochdalians.

Coach Tim said: "We responded to set backs really well, with two cool finishes by Riley, before Connell scored early in the second half. The boys saw the game out with a really strong defensive performance and were unlucky not to score more with excellent counter attacks that were denied by good goalkeeping.

"I'm really pleased for the Jaguars because they've had a tough run but have largely played really well. This time they got the result their attitude deserved. What a great performance."

Our Vikings under-11s boys enjoyed what coach Tom called their "performance of the season so far" against Littleborough Juniors Yellows with goals coming from Eoin (2), Fionn and Seb.

Tom said: "It was a fantastic game of football and performance to watch. Each and everyone of them where outstanding and they all worked their socks off for each other. For me that was the performance of the season so far. From first whistle to the last.

"The passages of play from back to front and getting shots off were brilliant on many occasions. The defence where solid winning the majority of tackles and going home to Rocco who was absolutely fantastic today at recycling the ball and getting us up the pitch and he made some brilliant saves, especially at the end with his feet.

"We gave player of the game to the whole team, as we couldn't fault any of them. They had an excellent work rate fighting for everything and encouraging each other."

Cheetahs under-12s girls had a tough day against a good side in their 3-4 reverse against FC Wigan Purple Empress.

Coach Alex said: "We were 3-0 down from an own goal and two mistakes at the back, but we still had our chances and finally got a breakthrough with Flora’s persistence resulting in an own goal to bring us into the break losing 3-1.

"In the second half we did not have the luck on our side with it seeming like every piece of possession resulted in a ball bouncing off us and direct to the opposition.

"Despite that we had some great saves from Isla who was awarded player of the game alongside Lexi who was constantly looking to close down attacks and get that ball up the field. The opposition managed to score another messy goal with 15 minutes left and again the girls bounced back creating chance after chance but just struggling with the final ball.

"In the final five minutes a throw-in from Aoife landed to Summer, who tucked it into the net. From a quick restart, just one minute from time, Lola slotted the ball home with an assist from Flora. Had we had a little more time, who knows what might have been?

"All-in-all we had an off-day but kept going, we know where we can improve and what to work on in training so hopefully these will be the last dropped points of our season."

Diamonds girls under-11s lacked their usual lustre this weekend in a tough encounter against Wigan Athletic Girls.

Coach Mark said: "We were down to bare bones again through injury and illness and with no specialist keeper, so it was always going to be a tough ask against a very physical Wigan side.

"Stand-in keeper Lexi had an excellent game and I couldn’t be any prouder of her performance and the fact that she was prepared to step in and don the gloves.

"The game was very physical and we lost our way and went into our shells, but the important thing is how we react now. My player of the game was Lexi - I was really proud of her today. The parents, Craig and Kris all picked Lexi too, so we asked them to pick again and the parents chose Eva, Craig went for Jeanette and Kris plumped for Elsa."

Diamonds' goals were scored by Eva and Maria.

Phoenix under-10s girls went four to the floor with Tika Taka Toones in an end-to-end thriller at St Mary's Park.

Star striker Summer (pictured above) stepped up with a hat-trick, to take her season tally to 11, and player of the game Lois pulled the strings in midfield on her way to three assists.

The goal of the game came from Aoife, who smashed home a beauty for Marauders in the first half after a lovely team build up.

Coach Brendan said: "They were all superb, right across the pitch. Some of the passing and looking up was really top notch. We need to do a bit of work defensively, in particular tracking runners from midfield, but the effort never dropped."

Wolves under-10s boys continued their march into the knockout stages of MYSL Christmas cup against Chadderton.

Coach Ben said: "Chadderton had some lively players but our midfield and defence nullified their threats superbly to dominate and take our chances when they were presented. Harry Knight and Teddy Smith both grabbed a brace to ensure the lads progressed smoothly to the quarter finals."

Phantoms under-15s boys beat Cheetham Hill Whites 3-1 to avenge the reverse result last month.

Goals came from player of the match Noah, Nathan and Finn Mc. Coach Marc described it as "a great team performance".

Fellow under-15s boys Titans shared the spoils with Whitworth Valley in a 3-3 epic.

Goals included a header by Ayden, from a great ball from Leighton, which looked like it had secured the three points. Sadly, Whitworth equalised at the death.

Devils under-11s boys progressed to the quarter finals of the MYSL Christmas Cup beating Shawside.

Coach Andy described it as "the performance of the season to date". He said: "We started strong and intense from the kick-off. The interplay, passing and decisive movement off the ball continued throughout the game. We were defensively solid, with top performances from Leo, Mikey, and Brody in goals keeping a clean sheet."

The goals came from Aiden (3), PJ, Reggie, Keaton, Danny (2) and Luca. The assists were provided by Danny, Keaton, Luke and Luca.
