Panthers under-nines boys struck hard in their cup victory last weekend.

The lads beat Strike Reds 6-0 in week two of their MYSL competition, and coach Ste reported back: "Panthers went ahead very early as Ethan excellently controlled a long ball over the top and slotted home.

"Oliver doubled the lead, before we saw the moment of the match when Rocco struck the ball from the half way line to make it 3-0. Jay rounded off a dominant first half display to make it 4-0 at the interval.

"The second half gave us a chance to rotate some players around, however, we kept up the tempo with Jay and Oliver both scoring their seconds of the day to make it 6-0 to the Panthers. There could have been more with us hitting the post and crossbar but we couldn’t have been happier with another magnificent performance. Panthers are flying at the minute."

Cheetahs under-12s girls beat Pennington Lionesses 3-1. Coach Alex said: "We dominated and played some lovely football. There was an early goal from Slyvie, collecting the loose ball on the left of the area to bring it inside and smash it past the keeper.

"But this made us a little too relaxed on the ball in midfield and up front and our defence had work to do and had to be incredible under pressure. The half time team talk was key from manager Chris and the girls started the second half strong and did exactly what was asked of them

"A goal quickly followed to make it 2-0 with Cece finding the net after some good link-up play. Pennington managed to get a goal shortly after an injury stoppage on 49 minutes and the nerves set in. Thankfully Cece battled again within a minute and found the net once more to make it 3-1.

"It was lovely to see the girls more vocal today, claiming for corners/goal kicks/throw-ins and organising themselves accordingly. Off the ball we were very good too. Overall it was an excellent team performance making it very hard to pick players of the game.

"The opposition choose Cece for her work rate in front of goal and our coaches chose Charlotte who was solid at the back today making runs from the right back position, coming across to cover and exuding confidence on the ball."

Phantoms boys under-15s got back to winning ways with a 3 - 2 win over Junior Hoops Haslingden.

Coach Marc said: "We actually had a sub after many injuries and illnesses of late, and it definitely helped the boys out being able to get breaks of five minutes off the pitch. Goals were scored by Reece, Finn and Harrison. Player of the match was Riley - it was another great performance from him and he covered every blade of grass while making two assists."

Meanwhile at St Mary's Park, Vikings under-11s boys dominated their game against Unsworth Lions.

Coach Tom said: "The boys dominated like I have never seen before. Each and every one of them excelled. Our first goal was a brilliant weaker foot finish from Jenson, after rounding the keeper following a pass by Seb.

"From a corner Eoin scored a brilliant header with his first touch after coming on. Our tactic of having Georgie do a man marking job worked a treat. In the second half we took our chances. Second half goals came from Oliver, Seb and Aidan with a brace. Player of the match was Georgie - absolutely faultless and stuck to our plan, being so disciplined throughout."

Diamonds under-11s girls were unlucky in their game against Wigan Athletic, despite putting in great effort.

Coach Mark said: "While there are negatives again - leaving the striker isolated, conceding soft goals, and being too square on and flat footed at times, there were also plenty of positives too.

"I thought there were passages of play where we moved the ball about lovely and we battled none stop. We were missing two big players and only had one sub in the warm weather and then lost Lexi to what looks like a hamstring injury, so we couldn’t rotate like we’d like to, but they still all put in a massive shift in the heat.

"Our goal was a cracker. Eva had one of her trademark drives through midfield and played a nice ball to Maria, who unleashed an absolute thunderbolt across the keeper into top bins.

"Parents' player of the game was Violette. I always knew 9s would be her game, because of her athleticism, but she’s showing real drive, commitment and desire and has worked on her technical side which is really evident. Kris’ player of the game was Maria, who put in a powerhouse performance, scored that superb goal and gave the opposition defence no rest.

"My player of the game will shock people - it was Eva. I never normally give it my own daughter, but she played the full match even though she’s a little under the weather and put in another cracking display in the middle of park."

Jaguars under-nines boys made it two wins from two in their 5-2 cup match victory against UK Sports.

Coach Tim said: "We played some really good football in perfect conditions. After the hurly burly match last week, it was great to see the boys control the game and win with composure.

"Riley scored a smart brace, with excellent assists from James and Ned. James then slotted in after a typical slaloming run. Muhammed scored after a good corner routine and Ned finished the scoring with good interchange with Flynn and a smart finish. UK Sports scored in each half but never really threatened our lead, with the boys defending well throughout. A very strong performance all round."

Hurricanes under-eights girls enjoyed the Prestwich sunshine at St Mary's Park in their game against Westbury Thunder.

Coach Justin said: "It was another terrifically competitive encounter, that was action packed throughout despite the lack of goals. Marnie was marvellous as usual in defence and midfield, contesting every ball but also showing her abundant technical ability.

"Violet could easily have had a hat-trick on another day, but ran herself into the ground as she constantly attacked the opposition defence. Betsy was calmness personified in defence as she stopped most of the Westbury attacks and is a major reason why we have conceded so few recently.

"Olivia once again showed her vision with some really nice passing to open up the opposition defence. Emily again showed her improvements as she has showed off her passing and was not afraid to get stuck in.

"Rene had another diligent game in defence as she shielded our goal from attacks and was first to every ball. Matilda worked really hard as usual, pressing from the front and chasing to help us stay on the front foot

"Lyla put in a captain’s performance, scoring our only goal with a great finish and also showing her bravery on the ball and commitment in the challenge.

"The players of the match though were Alma and Siana, who both shared goalkeeping duties and both made great saves, while they both played outfield as well to show off their versatility.

"It's really great to see the decision making and the football we play improve week on week. Well done girls."

Phoenix under-10s girls were still wiping the sleep from their eyes as they struggled to wake up for an early kick-off at Ladybridge Wanderers.

Summer scored the team's only goal after good work from Lois and player of the game was once again Noe, who never stopped running all match.

Coach Brendan said: "It was a tough day for the girls, but they kept going and never gave up. They played some good football at times and always try to play the right way. Tight astro turf pitches don't help us with our passing game.

"As well as Noe, I thought Isabella deserved a mention for making some outstanding saves, as always, and not letting the scoreline get her down."
