Coach Ste said: “After a few tough weeks and being very unlucky, today the Panthers got exactly what they deserved.
“Strike were a player down so first half Ollie swapped blue for red to even the numbers up and played fantastic against us.
“With Ollie on their wing it was Strike who started well, but our James got on the end of a through ball from Ethan to score for Panthers.
“This set James off and soon bagged his second of the day with a smart finish. Soon after it was James again, this time after William won the ball in midfield and played a great pass to set him up to get his hat-trick.
“The Panthers were enjoying themselves and playing some good football. Enzo’s shot was parried by their keeper falling to Ethan to tap home. The first half was finished off when Enzo’s corner fell to Jay on the edge of the box, and was struck home with power.
“The second half gave us a chance to move things about with David moving from keeper to attack and Jay loaned over to the Strike team.
“James was on fire scoring another two in quick succession from balls from Ollie and Hudson. Strike were threatening throughout but Rocco and Freddie stood strong winning the battles in defence.
“David was determined to get a goal, however he was met by a defiant Jay who was outstanding in their defence. Ethan then scored a great striker’s finish.
“Player of the match could have gone to a number of the lads.
With James scoring five and Ethan getting two, however the award was split between Jay and Ollie who not only showed great sportsmanship by playing for the opposition, they played outstandingly against their teammates, both showing quality throughout the game.”
Our Diamonds girls under-12s continued their swashbuckling run with another rout - this time it was Cherrybrook on the receiving end, as the game finished 14-1.
Goals came from Erin (4), Eva (3), Layla (2), Maria (2), Violette (2) and an own goal.
Coach Mark said: “It was a case of rinse and repeat from the last three weeks. We were up for it from the off, straight on the front foot and really pressing aggressively, which resulted in an early goal.
“It was one-way traffic from that point with wave after wave of attack where we looked like we’d score every time.
"We had half a dozen good saves, the woodwork got in the way and a couple of penalty shouts going against us actually stopped the scoreline being even worse.
“The girls were so committed from the first minute to the 60th that the opposition’s only hope was the long ball and that was met with our defensive brick wall.
“The defenders will be kicking themselves for the goal they conceded which was down to a mix up and lack of communication, but I’ll give them that one as they’re giving nothing else away and letting those in front of them play with a real freedom.
“There are too many goals to describe, but there was some exceptional finishing on display and I honestly wouldn’t be able to pick a favourite.
"These girls are making our job on the sidelines easy at the minute and all there is to say at the end is keep doing what you’re doing and don’t get cocky or complacent.
“The girls have upped their levels in training and it’s really showing. They are showing a mentality at 11 and 12 years old that is way beyond their years.
“Parents player of the game was Layla. She scored two well taken goals, was an absolute menace to the opposition, always making to look things happen and never once neglected her defensive duties.
“Craig’s player of the game was Violette. Mrs 8 out of 10 - so consistently good she sometimes goes under the radar when it comes to the accolades but she is our Captain Fantastic.
“Kris’s player was Elsa, aka ‘the terminator’ or ‘the wall’. She was rock solid at the back and it was one of her best displays at playing out from the back.
“My player of the game was Erin. She absolutely brought the fire again, with four goals, assists aplenty and she left a traumatised defence and goalkeeper in her wake.”
Coach Tim said: “It was a tough match for the Jaguars - we knew it would be a challenge but the boys were superb.
“The first half began with CSC applying some pressure but the defensive line of Gabriel, Casper and Oscar was equal to any of the opponents' efforts.
“As the half wore on, the quality of Ned and James in midfield began to tell and Marauders created good chances.
“Adam was excellent all match and nearly scored a brilliant goal when he hooked the ball over his head, turned then smashed a volley that the keeper did well to save.
“The half ended with chances for CSC from a corner, but they were denied by Gabriel's blocks and smart saves from Sandro.
“Casper went in net for the second half and was called into action to deal with crosses and attempts.
“When a nice move carved space for James, his effort was saved but Adam volleyed in the rebound, in a manner that reminded me of Cantona at St James Park in 1996.
“From that point on, further chances came through some great interplay between Oscar, James and Ned. The way Marauders controlled the match was really impressive.”
Our Phantoms under-16s boys had another great victory - this time 4-2 away at Milnrow Juniors Sharks.
Coach Marc said: “It was a great win for the lads, they came out of the blocks flying scoring four goals in the first 12 mins, through Riley (2), Elliot and Euan.
“It all looked too easy and I thought we would go on to score a few more and the game would be a whitewash.
“The football was great with lots of one-two passing, some great runs, brilliant footwork and al while trying to keep the ball on the ground.
“It was good to watch - they looked to be enjoying themselves on the 3G again instead of grass for a second week. It seems to suit our game better.
“In the second half Milnrow made a few adjustments to the team, including changing their keeper, and got themselves back into the game scoring early on.
“Matheusz pulled off some brilliant saves and kept us in the game until about 10 mins to go, they managed to score a second.
“It got a little twitchy towards the final whistle as our lads were tiring and Milnrow were trying for a third. The conditions didn’t help, with it being another wet and cold morning.
“But they did enough in the first half to secure the result and we came away with the win. Player of the game went to Matheusz.
"He was on it and he definitely contributed to the result, with some of his saves being brilliant and his kicks were much better too.
“The award was shared with Finn Mc - he had a great game alongside Elliot and Riley up top. It was good to see him battling again and getting some great crosses in. It was a shame he didn’t bag one for himself.”
