Panthers under-10s boys have put in some impressive performances of late.

On Saturday they took on Strike Reds and enjoyed a goal-fest.

Coach Ste said: “The Panthers started really well with William and Jay on the wings creating chances for the off.

“It was only a few minutes in when Jay found Ethan who slotted his shot first time into the bottom corner. Two minutes later the Ethan and Jay combo combined again this time Jay converting Ethan’s cross.

“The rest of the first half was dominated by the Panthers with a number of chances going close but they couldn’t add to their lead. At the other end stand-in goalie Enzo made a good save.

“At the start of the second half the Panther picked up the tempo, now with Ollie and Enzo on the wings, however so did Strike.

“Panthers kept pushing forward and it didn’t take long before another goal came with Ollie’s first shot of the game, from the edge of the box giving the keeper no chance.

“The lads were enjoying themselves as they passed the ball from left to right. Ollie, who only got there at half time, soon picked up an assist as his cross found Jay with loads of space in the box to smash the ball home.

“Strike had a couple of players who were strong and skilful however Freddie and Rocco were solid at the back with Hudson just in front winning everything in the middle.

“William went on a solo run, driving in from the right, beating three players and slotting home for a well deserved goal.

“Enzo topped it all off getting on the end of William’s through-ball and rifling his shot into the back of the net.

“An excellent performance all round and a really strong defensive display.

“Any of the front five could have got player of the match, but it was Hudson who covered every blade of grass, made countless tackles and was excellent in midfield.”

The previous week Panthers drew 3-3 with BPro in the cup. Ste added: “It was a competitive, end-to-end game where Panthers showed good character to come back and were so unlucky not to get the win.

“BPro were 2-0 up before Enzo delivered a great cross to the back post, where Ollie finished well to pull one back.

“James was a constant outlet and was brought down when through on goal in a challenge that could have seen a red card. He recovered to score from the resulting free kick, giving the keeper no chance and level the game at 2–2.

“With five minutes to go, Panthers finally took the lead. A shot from the left hit the post and fell kindly to Ollie, who excellently converted his second to make it 3–2.

“Only a few minutes to go and BPro were piling on the pressure. Panthers stood strong however one pass found its way through to a lone striker who made it 3-3.

“It was another difficult decision for player of the match as there were a number of standouts across the pitch. It went to Ollie for an excellent brace on his return from a couple of weeks off.”

Cheetahs under-13s girls fought well after early set backs in their league game.

Coach Alex said: “We weren’t with it initially and found ourselves 3-0 down, through a questionable opener and two sloppy goals.

“We had chances, but seemed to want to pass it into the net, plus our luck was out.

“The second half was much better. We pulled four goals back, despite conceding another three. The way the game was going we wanted another 10 minutes, as we were reckon we could have equalised as we kept making chances.

“The girls never lost their heads and are always trying to play football. Proud of them once again.”

Raptors under-13s boys travelled to Pennine Juniors, a team who knocked them out the cup earlier in the season.

Coach Paul said: “Raptors started well with our front line and wide player linking up well to put George through after five minutes to take the lead.

“However, the heavy pitch meant the ball wasn't quite flowing as we wanted it to and Pennine managed to equalise after we lost the ball in the middle.

“Soon after, a Pennine corner was headed into our own goal for them to take the lead.

“This prompted a resurgence and Cameron went through, forcing a good save from their keeper but the rebound fell to George to draw level.

“The second half saw Raptors dominate with Pennine barely getting out of their own half.

“However it took a while before George had a shot saved which this time fell to Tommy to regain the lead.

“We continued to pile on the pressure which saw Luca go through before fluffing his lines with the shot.

“A couple of other chances saw shots fired straight at the keeper. But tenacity paid off just before full time with George bringing the ball down from Thomas D's pass to hammer into the top corner for our fourth and a 4-2 win.

“It was our third win on the bounce and player of the game was George for his hat-trick (second consecutive one) and a tenacious display up top.”

Wolves under-11s boys signed off their league campaign in style against Strike Blacks, overcoming adversity and a threadbare squad to deliver a memorable performance.

Coach Lee said: “Easter disruption took its toll, with the Wolves forced to line up without any substitutes.

"With manager Ben reportedly in the Algarve on a ‘scouting mission’ and coach Adam en route to Boston—rumoured to be travelling in full marathon gear and without luggage—the responsibility fell to stand-in duo me and Jonny.

“Despite the challenge, they made a bright start and struck early through the ever-reliable Harry ‘The Hammer’, setting the tone for what looked like a promising morning.

“However, the momentum quickly shifted as Strike Blacks capitalised on a sluggish and disjointed Wolves display. It was a lethargic and gnarly first-half showing that left plenty of room for improvement.

“Half-time proved to be the turning point. What we said during the interval must have worked. The Wolves emerged for the second half transformed—ravenous, energetic, and determined.

“At the back, Jackson, Alexander, and Elliot were commanding and composed, shutting down any threat from Strike Blacks.

“In midfield, Max E and Aaron drove the team forward with purpose and creativity, while wingers Teddy and Flynn worked tirelessly, stretching the opposition and delivering a constant stream of dangerous balls into the box.

“At the heart of it all was Harry, who proved unplayable. He completed a superb hat-trick, with his second goal in particular leaving the crowd speechless—a moment of individual brilliance that underlined his role as our star player. Teddy added a fourth to cap off a dominant second-half display.

“Player of the match went to our stand-in keeper Thomas who produced a critical save from a free kick with the match in the balance.

“We were impressed with the opposition. Strike Blacks is managed by Elliot and we have played his teams throughout the season. He is a real class act as a coach and a manager - always balanced and always fair. A special mention to his winger Harrison, who selflessly agreed to start on the bench as one of our players was running late – very classy and a credit to his parents.

“The attendance was 42 plus one international jet setter, a retired footballer writer, a dog sitter and one dog.

“With the league campaign wrapped up, attention now turns to the cup, where the Wolves have topped their group.

“A top-of-the-table clash awaits at the end of May—an exciting finale to what has already been an impressive season.”

Jaguars under-10s boys also struggled with players being away for the Easter half term in their match against Astley and Tyldesley.

Coach Tim said: “The final game at Moston this season saw the Jaguars down to the bare bones.

“With no game last week either, the boys looked a bit rusty at the start and conceded early. As the game settled though, Marauders played some lovely football, passed well and created good opportunities.

“The performance saw some reward when Ned picked the ball up at half way, brought it forward and smashed an unstoppable shot past a very capable keeper.

“At half time, we felt the game was there for us and told the boys to continue their passing and work together.

“The boys opened the second half superbly and dominated proceedings with Adam and Flynn both going close and a Ned free kick going inches wide.

“Somehow, the ball just wouldn't go in until Ned scored after a clever Phaedon kick in, and Oscar  surged down the left before slotting home.”
